Meet Mini’imah
Mini’imah Shaheed is an experienced education leader, leadership coach, and advocate for organizational excellence. She most recently concluded her tenure as the Chief Executive Officer of KIPP Atlanta Schools, Georgia’s largest network of public charter schools, and was the first Black leader to hold the position. As CEO, she set the direction for over 5,500 students and more than 900 staff across 11 schools. Nationally renowned for preparing its students for college, career, and life, KIPP leads joyful, identity-affirming, academically excellent schools.
Prior to serving as CEO, Mini’imah was Chief Schools Officer and the founding principal of KIPP STRIVE Primary School, Georgia’s first KIPP elementary school, established in 2012. She began her career in education as a 2001 Teach For America corps member and has led a range of leadership teams to achieve exceptional results.
A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, Agnes Scott College, and Georgia State University, Mini’imah serves on the board of directors of Atlanta Metropolitan State College and is an alumna of both Leadership Atlanta and the Pahara Fellowship.
She is also author of Winning Leadership Teams, a guide to building and sustaining high-performing teams.
Her leadership has been recognized widely—she was named one of Atlanta Magazine’s Women Making A Mark, a Georgia Titan Top 100 CEO, a Most Admired CEO by the Atlanta Business Chronicle, and CEO of the Year by the Freedom Coalition for Charter Schools, founded by esteemed education reformer Dr. Howard Fuller.
